THE STORY

Odmery is a single-vineyard cuvée from a one-hectare plot on loess, planted in 1977 — old-vine Pinot Blanc with a small amount of Chardonnay blended in. Yields are tiny: only around a thousand bottles come off this hectare each vintage.

It's one of the more serious, textural wines in Richard's range — twenty days on the skins gives it real structure, while the old vines and single-plot focus bring a precision that his field blends don't aim for.

WINEMAKING DETAILS

Predominantly Pinot Blanc with 5–15% Chardonnay, from a single organically farmed 1-hectare plot (Odměry, loess soil, north/north-east/east exposure, planted 1977). Hand-harvested, whole-bunch fermentation in old open-top barrels for ~20 days, indigenous yeast. Foot-stomped, then aged 10 months in old 600L barrels with regular batonnage. Little to no sulphites added at bottling, unfined, unfiltered.

SERVING NOTE

Chill for 30 minutes before opening — best around 12°C. If you have a decanter, pour it in and give it 15–20 minutes to open up; this one rewards a little patience.
