THE STORY

The Flowering Gardens. This is the bottle Jardins sells most of. Alix and Henry built it around elderflower, a flavour that usually ends up sweet and shy, and pushed it the other way: bergamot and lime for bite, ginger for a finish that keeps going. It opens floral, elderflower and a little rose, then the citrus arrives and everything turns tangy. Bronze at the Prix Épicures in 2023. Mix it half and half with tonic over ice and you get a spritz for people who find most spritzes too sweet or too orange. One bottle makes around twenty.

WINEMAKING DETAILS

Blended in Touraine, in the Loire Valley, from organic fruits, plants and flowers. Some of the fruit comes from the orchard right behind the production site. Orchard apple juice and grape must form the base, with an infusion of elderflower, ginger juice, lime juice and natural bergamot extract, then fruit and vegetable concentrates (pumpkin, apple) and a touch of carob seed flour for texture. Nothing is dealcoholised: it never contained alcohol. No added sugar, no preservatives. Screw cap.

SERVING NOTE

This is a concentrate, not a pour-and-sip. One part Jardins Fleuris, one part tonic, plenty of ice. Sparkling water works too if you want it drier. One 70cl bottle makes around 20 drinks.

Unopened, it keeps at room temperature. Once open, keep it in the fridge and finish it within 4 to 6 weeks. There are no preservatives in it.
