THE STORY

Špigle and Bočky are two plots that have been farmed together for over half a century. The vines are more than 50 years old, planted in the sandy soils of Němčičky, and the grapes have never been sorted by variety — Riesling, Veltliner, Večerka, Sylván, Milerka, Neuburské, Muscat all grow side by side and are harvested together in a single pass.

Richard ferments the whole bunches semi-carbonically, then ages the wine for a full year in old barrels. The result is something that takes orange wine seriously — not as an experiment, but as a statement. Concentrated and spicy, with herbal tones and a fresh citrus thread running through it. There is tannin here, soft but present, a reminder of long skin contact. A wine with depth that you do not expect from the first sip.

WINEMAKING DETAILS

The grapes come from two plots — Špigle and Bočky — farmed as one, with vines over 50 years old growing in sandy soils in Němčičky. All the white varieties grow together and are harvested in a single pass: Riesling, Grüner Veltliner, Večerka, Sylván, Milerka, Neuburské and Muscat. The whole bunches go into the tank together and ferment semi-carbonically with only indigenous yeast. After fermentation, the wine moves into old oak barrels where it ages for a full year. No fining, no filtration, no sulphites added.

SERVING NOTE

Chill for 30 minutes before opening. Already cold? Take it out and wait 10 minutes — this orange wine is best around 12°C.

If you have a decanter or any wide vessel, pour it in and wait 15–20 minutes. It's concentrated and worth giving time.
